I am all for self love, but that doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to let the confidence and beauty of other women inspire you! Chances are if you’re lusting after someone’s look, it’s not because you feel inferior to them, but because you see something that fits you and who you are so perfectly it makes you wonder why you didn’t think of it first. So, for today’s post I’m bringing you an in-depth, behind the scenes look at The Carrie Diaries star AnnaSophia Robb’s beauty, hygiene, and self love routine!
You may know Anna (pronounced Aw-Nuh) from her roles in Bridge to Terabithia, Because of Winn-Dixie, or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but it wasn’t until she portrayed surf star Bethany Hamilton in Soul Surfer that she caught my eye as an inspirational icon. She’s a great reminder that no matter who you are, your best asset is a genuine smile!
By the way, have you seen Soul Surfer yet? Not only is the Hawaiian setting and soundtrack superb, but Bethany’s faith and strength in herself is unbelievable. AnnaSophia did a great portrayal of an even greater woman.
“Beauty is about self confidence.”
AnnaSophia’s done plenty of interviews with Seventeen Magazine and Teen Vogue, and she’s spilled lots of secrets about her beauty routine. She says she doesn’t wash her hair every day, favours dry shampoo, and let’s her hair air dry. Now that’s a laid back attitude I can aspire to. She also likes Bare Minerals face products, because they’re lightweight and easily mixed, as well as tinted lip balm and brow brushes. However, AnnaSophia admits she is usually too lazy to apply makeup everyday. I’ll second that – there’s nothing better than embracing your barefaced beauty! Another of Anna’s tips is to wash your face every morning. I’ve made that an essential part of my routine, too. Having a clean face feels so good, even if I’m just lounging around in my pajamas all day. Don’t hide your unique complexions under ‘sleep dirt’. She also mentions the importance of drinking lots of water, moisturizing, and a tried and true tip (by moi): dab toothpaste on zits! Dries em right up. I even use this for cold sores and it’s a total miracle worker.
As for style, AnnaSophia’s all about comfort, and that is vital inspiration for everyday life. If you love wearing corsets and platforms, then all the power to ya, as long as you’re comfortable with it. Too many times in high school did I try to wear clothes that were way too small for me or trendy fashions that just made me feel uncomfortable about my body or what I looked like. It doesn’t have to be that way for you to look stunning! If you feel comfortable, you’ll look comfortable.
“When I’m at home or at school, I’m casual and comfortable. I tend to wear workout clothes and lots of sweaters. But when I’m going out I love dresses and heels. I edge more on the bohemian side… I think.”
As for fitness, because I’m sure some of you will be upset if I leave it out, AnnaSophia favours yoga and Pilates (from what I can tell from paparazzi photos. I’m sorry, I hate to feed the tabloids!). But copying someone else’s fitness or health regimen is totally nonsensical, so not much detail is needed here. Draw inspiration from a balanced lifestyle! Listen to your body. And choose activities that you enjoy. If Pilates isn’t your thing, ever heard of swing class? My sister tried it out and I have been dying to ever since. So experiment! Try something new! Hey, maybe if you’re in the right place, you can surf.
“If you act weird, people will treat you weird, but if you’re just yourself, people respond to that.”
Let this beautiful, strong young woman inspire you to be the gorgeous, wonderful, loved, and ever strong person that you are!
Inspire others by being yourself.
