Sometimes it’s hard to see the sparkle amid the hum drum of our everyday lives. But instead of looking for glamour in events or waiting for something amazing to happen, just realize that the solution is you. The way you carry yourself, the attitude with which you think, and how you go about your daily routines all affect your sense of identity.
Andie’s tips to feeling like a Princess:
– dress fabulously, everyday
– whistle while you work
– pamper yourself
– treat everybody with grace and class
– remember your worth
1. DRESS TO IMPRESS
I’m not one to advise people on wearing heels and chandelier earrings around the house – unless that’s how you do you – but it’s imperative to look and feel fabulous to be a Princess. And who says you can’t do that on a lazy day at home? When I feel less than glamorous, I slip on my hot pink sweatpants for a splash of fun femininity. Even just making a habit out of wearing the ‘crown jewels’ everyday (i.e. simple necklace and earrings) can remind you of the royal you truly are.
2. HAVE A BALL WHILE YOU WORK
Whether it’s chores or studies or work, you can treat and task with diplomacy. Everything that you do is of the utmost importance in your life, and you should treat it as so. Give everything your undivided attention and never feel inferior because of any task – even washing the dishes. Put on some music and do your best job!
3. PAMPER YOURSELF ALWAYS
Everyone has a hygiene routine. You brush your teeth, your hair, you shower, you wash your face, whatever. By not rushing this routine and enjoying every moment just for yourself, you can feel royally polished while doing something that would otherwise seem bland or a nuisance.
4. SMILE SWEETLY AT YOUR ENEMIES
One of the most important aspects of being a Princess is the way you treat others. Growing up with two siblings and divorcing parents has come with its fair share of fighting, but I’ve since learned the real meaning of the word ‘argument’. Insulting someone whose opinion differs from your own, or who perhaps is being less than civil with you, is not a valid response. When you treat someone who is shouting or being cruel to you calmly and with smart, concise arguments, you will come out on top and they will look and feel foolish in comparison. So whether they’re naughty or nice, treat everybody with grace, class, and respect.
5. HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH
As and everyday Princess, never forget your worth. You are beautiful, important, and strong, and should conduct yourself as such. You can lie in bed with dirty hair, groaning at anybody who dares to bother you, and still know that you’re a human being with highs and lows, and will always be an incredible person with potential no matter what is going on in your life.
Don’t allow a dull day to hide your shine. The way you view yourself is one of the most crucial aspects of being happy, so put on your tiara and smile, Princess. Even when no one’s watching.
